Internship production/process engineering (m/f/d) 80%-100%
Today’s greatest challenge in realizing energy-efficient structures from fibre-reinforced plastics lies in the capacity to manufacture high quality parts quickly and cost-effectively. This limits their availability for high volume production markets. Antefil Composite Tech is a start-up located at ETH Zurich which revolutionizes high volume composites manufacturing by providing textile preforms made from glass fibres which are individually clad in a meltable, recyclable plastic. Our mission is to expedite the transition of the global composites industry to a more cost- and energy-efficient future, helping previously untouched markets adapt advanced lightweight materials. To achieve these goals, we redefine the limits of cycle time, preform cost and laminate quality encountered in high-volume composites production. Job description You will support Antefil with the engineering and production of coating fluids, the spinning and coating of hybrid fibres as well as down-stream production of textiles and parts. This includes general hands-on lab work, glass melt spinning, standard as well as specialized testing methods and small project management tasks. Main tasks and responsibilities, individually or together with the team: - Production and testing of hybrid fibre samples (monofilaments, rovings, yarns, and textiles) using both established methods and novel processes in development. - Design, realization and analysis of experimental studies, including project management. - Supporting the scale-up from laboratory prototype to pilot production plant. This goes alongside: - Technical support for pilot customers. - Maintaining and updating existing and new equipment. What we offer - An agile process development methodology, including regular experimentation and testing. - A highly innovative and dynamic environment with a flat hierarchy and a high level of independence. - An attractive compensation package. - The opportunity to join a small but rapidly growing and enthusiastic team sharing one vision. Your Profile You are a Bachelor’s or Master’s student in materials science or mechanical/process/chemical engineering (or equivalent). Your performed course work on or have other experience with handling polymers and/or composites. You are a hands-on person, ideally with experience in lab work. You are a creative, technically skilled, and highly motivated team player who excels when exposed to a dynamic work environment. We expect you to take responsibility and work proactively and independently. Proficiency in the English language completes your profile. You have the right skills and want to join our mission? We look forward to receiving your application including a motivational letter, CV, transcript of records and any reference letters you may have at [email protected]. Please note that we exclusively accept applications submitted directly to this e-mail address.
