Electrical Safety Engineer
Description Ionic Wind is a Swiss deep-tech startup developing solid-state airflow technology to remove mechanical fans from compact electronics. Our mission is to enable quieter, more reliable and more sustainable cooling solutions for next-generation devices. Our technology is based on electrohydrodynamic airflow (ionic wind) — a field that has been researched for decades, but never successfully translated into certified, manufacturable products. That is the gap we are closing We are now looking for an Electrical / Safety Engineer to help us design systems that are not only functional, but also defensible in certification and compliance reviews. The opportunity In this role, you will focus on electrical safety, failure containment and compliance readiness of Ionic Wind’s first product architecture. You will work closely with the founder and the product systems engineer to ensure that high-voltage operation is bounded, understandable and aligned with certification expectations. This is not a pure design role — it is a systems and safety role at the interface of engineering and regulation. Your key responsibilities Develop electrical safety and insulation concepts for high-voltage airflow systems Analyze grounding, creepage, clearance and insulation paths Identify and mitigate potential EMI / EMC risks at system level Support ozone measurement and mitigation strategies Perform failure-mode and foreseeable-misuse analysis Contribute to pre-certification discussions and documentation Translate technical risks into clear, reviewable safety documentation What you need to bring to the role Degree in electrical engineering or a related field Experience with high-voltage, power electronics, or safety-critical systems Strong intuition for failure modes and risk containment Familiarity with certification, compliance or regulated environments (IEC, UL, etc. is a plus) Ability to communicate clearly with non-electrical engineers Structured and responsible approach to system design Eligible to work in Switzerland Your mindset Safety-first and systems-oriented Comfortable working with incomplete information and evolving designs Proactive in identifying risks early Pragmatic and solution-oriented Motivated by making advanced technology acceptable in real products What we offer Key role in shaping an unique deep-tech product from the ground up Close collaboration with the founding team Flexible working hours and trust-based culture High degree of ownership and autonomy Opportunity to work on a genuinely novel cooling technology Application Apply here https://tally.so/r/rjPl65 Contact [email protected] +41 58 765 79 32
