ROCS (Research of Orthopedic Science) is an active research and development team located at Balgrist University Hospital currently designing and implementing revolutionary and disruptive intraoperative technologies based on the state-of-the-art advancements in artificial intelligence and augmented reality. We are dedicated to improving the surgical process and the patient outcome through our innovative technological solutions. Who we want? We are looking for experts in the field of medical image analysis and computer assisted surgery with a strong background in engineering, computer science and mathematics. Given our interdisciplinary team, we highly value strong communication, leadership and analytical problem-solving skills. Your tasks: - Design and implementation of advanced computer algorithms to support execution of surgeries - Research and monitoring of the current trends in computer vision, medical imaging and augmented reality - Working in the X23D team consisting of researchers, software developers and engineers to develop software products dedicated to improving the surgical status-quo - Communication with different stakeholders (e.g., surgeons, engineers and MedTech experts) to define design requirements and to improved product quality Your profile: - MSc level or PhD degree (preferred) in computer science, biomedical engineering or related fields - Extensive experience in conducting research and development activities leading into working prototypes - Hand-on programming experience in the fields of artificial intelligence, computer vision and medical imaging - Excellent analytical problem solving, creative thinking and communication skills (in English) - Excellent programming skills in Python (required), C++ (required), Unity (preferred), C# (preferred) and CUDA (preferred) - Extensive experience in working with common computer vision, deep learning and medical imaging software and libraries (e.g., OpenCV, Insight Tooklit, PyTorch, Tensorflow, 3D Slicer and Keras) - Experience in cloud computing (e.g., google clouds) - Experience in design and implementation of augmented reality tools and the associated software skills is preferred (e.g., Microsoft HoloLens) Our offer: We are a team of dedicated young professionals with the mission of bridging the gap between the front-line developments in the fields of computer science, engineering and surgery. We are an active research and development team located at Balgrist University Hospital currently designing and implementing revolutionary and disruptive intraoperative technologies based on the state-of-the-art advancements in artificial intelligence and augmented reality. We are dedicated to improving the surgical process and the patient outcome through our innovative technological solutions. We are in the foundation phases of creating a start-up company and we currently operate under the umbrella of Balgrist University Hospital. Together with our team (X23D), you will be involved in the development of our state-of-the art products that will ultimately be used inside many operating rooms. We are looking for motivated candidates with experience in (medical) software development focusing on computer vision and deep learning. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in engineering, computer science and software development. Given our interdisciplinary team, we highly value strong communication, leadership and analytical problem-solving skills. Your tasks - Implementation of software algorithms for computer assisted surgical navigation. - Acting as the interface between the different advancements and implementations made by the research team and implementing them in a unified software environment. - Working with hardware and software components and creating product prototypes. - Working in the X23D team consisting of researchers, software developers and engineers to develop software products dedicated to improving the surgical status-quo. Your profile - MSc level degree in computer science, informatics, electrical engineering, or related fields. - Software development experience in dynamic and inter-disciplinary through study projects or industrial internships. - Excellent programming skills in Python or C++, Unity (preferred), C# (preferred). - Experience in coding computer vision and medical image analysis software or projects (OpenCV, Insight Toolkit and 3D Slicer). - Expertise in working with common deep learning libraries (e.g., Pytorch, Tensorflow or Keras). - Experience in design and programming for graphical user interfaces (e.g., QT). - Good analytical problem solving, creative thinking and communication skills (in English).
