Project Leader (Medicinal Chemistry)
Zürich
fulltime
§ Designed and synthesized sub-type selective lipid kinase inhibitors using deep learning-based protein models, virtual screening of ultra-large chemical libraries, and a reversible covalent strategy. § Led a small, multi-disciplinary team (6 people) through hit validation and into hit to lead optimization to deliver two pre-clinical series. § Managed CROs for chemical synthesis, assay evaluation & ADME/PK profiling.

thesis
§ Accomplished the chemical synthesis of the therapeutic protein, Human Nerve Growth Factor, by developing the expressed KAHA ligation and SOLACE solubility tag. § Established an automated platform for rapid virtual screening hit validation by integrating large virtual libraries with automated synthetic chemistry, resulting in the Synple Space technology which allowed the ETH start-up, Synple Chem, to be acquired. § Delivered collaborative publications on DNA-encoded libraries, ribosomal frameshifting and automated synthesis, including in the journal Science and in addition to co-authoring 1.2 M CHF in grants (SNF 212565).

Process Chemist
Other
fulltime
§ Conduced route design and process development for the commercial manufacture of AZD5718 and AZD7594 on tonne-scale. § Leveraged automation initiatives and process analytical techniques to achieve project deliverables and advocate for improved practices.
