I currently work as a research assistant in the group Rhizosphere Processes, continuing the work I started during my civil service. I am working on new bioinformatics workflows for the analysis and interpretation of next-generation sequencing data, statistical analyses of microbial community data and I am contributing to research publications.

As part of my civil service I worked as a research assistant in the group Rhizosphere Processes performing general laboratory work such as PCR, sterile bench work and field work. Further, I worked on bioinformatics and statistical analyses of microbial community data.

Project title: “Automated analysis of post-mortem computed tomography images using machine learning techniques“. I combined convolutional neural networks with topological invariants to produce an image classification model. Further, I compared different existing machine learning algorithms to classify medical imaging data.

I monitored and maintained safety in and around the river and pool. Further, I conducted first aid, rescue and CPR. As major part of this work included maintaining direct contact with customers. In addition I ensured cleanliness and hygiene and conducted repair and maintenance work.
